beets is broken since the last update (maybe because of the python3.9 update)? Tried on two systems -- same result. Any ideas on how to fix it?

This issue is reported upstream: https://github.com/beetbox/beets/issues/3674
It is a bug introduced with new python.

The issues is fixed in the new release of beets version 1.5.0. I have submitted the fix here most probably you will get this through updates next sync.

siru Hi! If you want, you can install beets now with this command, so you don't have to wait until Friday sync.
sudo eopkg it https://packages.getsol.us/unstable/b/beets/beets-1.5.0-13-1-x86_64.eopkg

algent I was very excited to try this app reading this thread. (@WetGeek turned me on to Asunder and I'm trying to digitize my too-large CD collection). A music manager like this seems pretty cool. My question is simply: is this issue fixed in today's update? I could not tell from the date in the changelog.

It's WAY better than dealing with all those plastic CD cases. In my collection, it saved storing 235 of those.

WetGeek When I went to the dusty shed last week looking something and about 40 CDs fell out of a box and crashed to the cement floor I realized a single thing: if I never saw another plastic jewel case again I'd be alright with it.🙂

I still keep the CDs and jewel cases to protect them, in case I ever need to show that I did buy them, but they're stored in banker boxes where they're hard to get to. They don't need to be handy.
