Blank Screen (Laptop left Unattended)

dostana in the power settings for blank screen to 'NEVER,' which is bad for the battery and privacy.

I do not subscribe to that conventional wisdom at all, but we all have to make our choices.
I turn all Power settings OFF and have no freeze problems or worries.
Also still more buttons in Power to mix and match and experiment with.
Someone with a dialed-in laptop might have a better fix than mine🙂.

Don't forget the screen locker (screensaver). It's in a different place.

It's called "Screen Lock" under "Privacy" in System Settings. I have mine set to "Never." Since it's in a different place than the power settings, it's easy to overlook.

WetGeek Brilliant, I always overlook that setting. It's set to never, but I don't remember doing it. I wonder if the blank screen=never went ahead and over-rode whatever the default setting was. Thank you much.
BTW, what the he** is Thunderbolt? Always wondered.

No idea what the heck Thunderbolt is. I've heard of a thunderclap, or a lightning bolt, but not a thunderbolt. I can't imagine what one would look like.

brent Got it under privacy setting. Norm way of automatic screen lock isn't the issue. The issue is it fails to get to active status to put in my password. In my case the screen goes blank and it doesn't respond to any keys pressed. I tried a fedora 34 distro with norm setting the automatic screen lock respond to any key pressed and presents logon screen. In budgies it doesn't, i don't know if its hardware issue or some other settings or switches to activate. Any input will be appreciate.

I had this problem with an HP laptop, it seems to be caused by the 5.13 kernel, I resisted for a while staying with 5.12 but it is no longer available in the solus repositories. Now I transferred the laptop to POP OS which uses 5.11 and everything works again.

dostana No sir my tongue was not in cheek (this time); I was sincere🙂. I said earlier in this thread I did not believe conventional wisdom about bad for laptop and massive battery drainage...
...but I will admit I was not clear. I was trying to coax you to follow up however poorly the attempt. Now that you disabled many sleep/hibernate settings....how is the laptop's performance? Any different?
