Here is solution for Brostrend USB WiFi Adapter AC1200

Want to post this little workaround for Brostrend USB WiFi Adapter AC1200 AC3 V2 and it worked with help of github :

Plug in this USB-device and get sure if USB-device is recognized :

lsusb

There should be a line with little dev spec similiar like (Bus and Device may change at your machine) :

Bus 003 Device 009: ID 0bda:b812 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL88x2bu [AC1200 Techkey]

Then fetch the files from here :

git clone https://github.com/RinCat/RTL88x2BU-Linux-Driver.git

cd RTL88x2BU*
make
sudo make install

in the end then :

modprobe 88x2bu rtw_drv_log_level=5

and blue LED of Brostrend AC1200 should blink now. Cheers !!!!

It went all good - but after reboot the driver seems to be have disappeared ?
Have I forgotten a command for to fix the driver into kernel ?

But here is then in last line "Driver=(none)" ?! What is wrong ?

Every time Solus updates the kernel (Potentially every week) you would have to do this all over again. Which might explain why it stopped working after a reboot IF you had done a system update after setting this up.

Harvey Okay. Would be cool, when installed drivers are staying in the configuration of the machine.

Impossible, drivers are built against the specific kernel version. Every time Solus updates the kernel it has to rebuild all these packages https://dev.getsol.us/source/linux-current/browse/master/REBUILDS.md so they continue to work.

Which is exactly why these drivers should be upstreamed into the kernel instead of requiring others to constantly rebase patches or rebuild the package against kernel updates. Another problem you may find is that the driver will not support newer kernels at some stage and you will need to download an updated version of the driver or sometimes the developer abandons it all together and you're screwed.

It should be after :

sudo make install

in the end this :

cd

and then :

sudo modprobe 88x2bu rtw_drv_log_level=5

Then blue LED of AC1200 is blinking.
