I have a large Canon printer for making salon-quality 13x19" gallery prints, but I wanted an inkjet printer that's much less expensive to operate for ordinary everyday printing tasks. I bought an inexpensive HP printer/scanner for that purpose, and it's worked well with Solus. In fact, it was found automatically via wi-fi, and I had no issues accessing it. It also connects to a LAN or computer via a wired connection.
It's an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Wireless Printer with Mobile Printing, which I bought from Amazon in 2018 for $174.00. Although it's a color printer, and a good one, its black cartridge is of the XL variety, and lasts a long time with mostly B&W printing. I've also used it as a scanner, easily and with no issues. It accepts a USB drive, and will scan to it as an option, which I find very useful.
Since I bought it several years ago, the price may be different now, and it may have been replaced with a newer model by now, but if I needed to replace it, I'd expect to be very satisfied with any such replacement.
EDIT: Amazon also lists replacement inks for it that work flawlessly, and cost a fraction of what HP charges for theirs. That makes it very inexpensive to operate.
