When using a VPN, is there a way to block the internet when the VPN dropped?
I use expressVPN with the built-in option in network and it works perfectly but it has happen a few times that the VPN has dropped the connection, leaving my internet without VPN. Is there a way to make the connection non funtional until I manually connect the VPN again?

This function it's available on the expressVPN app itself, but they do not have any source code or Appimage/flatpak/snap to make it work on the Solus OS, they only have arch and .deb files.

You can try installing arch version maybe... if it is a package you can try to manually move the files to correct folders or run locally, I can't download from site for testing...

If you are using openVPN [here], using iptables you can block internet traffic when disconnected [Arch forum for solution].

YuriTheHenrique Thanks for the reply, I tried to install the arch version manually moving the files in the correct folder like you suggested, but with no luck, it didn't run.
Here is the link if you want to test it in case I had to do an extra step or anything else.

Sounds like you want what people often refer to as a "killswitch".

This is what I do with my VPN (PIA) as I do not want to use their app. If you're fine with not using an app it might help you but it won't be a matter of a simple copy and paste of commands. it needs to be specific to your vpn server. https://discuss.getsol.us/d/1146-openvpn-kill-switch/9

Harvey Can I have multiple rules for every VPN server country IP or do I need to change it everytime?
I've never used ufw from terminal, only withe the graphical interface gufw. So I don't know much about it.

Edit: I would preferred to use the expressVPN app for convenience, but don't know how to install the arch version.

You would have to manually add a rule for every server you want to be able to connect to. It is possible from time to time that your VPN may change the address of these servers but it does not happen often at least not with PIA.

Hopefully someone who uses expressvpn will be able to help you with the app.
