Canon Maxify MB2720 Printer Issues

Hi all,

Having issues with this printer. Computer seems to recognize the printer, but the best I can get is a printout that says Printer Test Page at the top, and then blank the rest of the page, and then keeps printing out blank pages. Any thoughts?

If Solus sees it, it prints, and nothing gets printed, it's a driver in my opinion. You need a driver.
Your options, afaik are 1) make a request at dev tracker above for this driver (task T83 still?) and give solus the link to the deb package
2) there seems to be a non-deb/rpm linux targz source file at canon (link^)--you could download it, open it, and maybe someone could walk you through it here if it's doable.
3) there likely is a third option but I don't know it.

That link is great. I have downloaded the source files.

I may try your option 2.

So I will now put it out there, is there anyone who can walk me through the process of installing the drivers for this printer, including scanning and printing, from the source files, ie:

cnijfilter2-source-5.40-1.tar.gz
scangearmp2-source-3.40-1.tar.gz?

When you crack it open it's full of folders w/ a readme:

How to build rpm:
=================
    * When you build one printer driver package.
    --------------------------------------------
    $ rpmbuild -tb cnijfilter-source-X.XX-Y.tar.gz

Example:
========
    * Example for Ver.5.00 package:
	----------------------------------
    $ rpmbuild -tb cnijfilter-source-5.00-1.tar.gz

Is there a solus command for rpmbuild?
Digging deeper there are many programs that are bundled but I don't know which program marries them
them altogether?
I see a folder of so. files and in Scripts folder two install.sh files: one for deb, one for rpm.
I'm curious if anybody can point you in the right direction--I'm in the weeds right now.

Very interesting reading in which you may draw your own conclusions. I don't know if you are linux novice or pro.(my category is barely amateur who knows a little bit). But in some cases, yes there's a way to install rpm but requires extra software/so many steps and no guarantees.
But this targz I led you too--I was thinking---way too much crap here for a simple print driver. Wondering now if you should appeal to the pros? (devtracker) They won't leave you high and dry.
Still might be clues in those links depending on how adventurous you feel.
