Solus OS 4.3 Gnome, running on AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, black screen, how to remove the ' quiet and splash' from boot menu permanently, ps: there is no folder /etc/kernel/cmdline in 4.3 as per earlier discussions.

JoshStrobl That help page is for appending parameters. Does it work for replacing or deleting parameters as well?

For example, I would want to remove the rd.luks.uuid parameter, and use rd.luks.name instead…

dumetrulo You can completely override it using /etc/kernel/cmdline instead, but you must list all cmdline options that would be brought in by /usr/lib/kernel/cmdline-*.current or cmdline.d. You'll want to definitely double-check the boot entries before rebooting.

EDIT: In case it wasn't clear, if you do this wrong you WILL need to boot from a different OS to fix it.

Unfortunately it doesn't work as advertised: contents of /etc/kernel/cmdline will be added to the options line in the /boot/loader/entries/* files but will not replace anything.

I read the manpage: according to it, files in a folder /etc/kernel/cmdline-removal.d can contain parts of a cmdline that will be text-matched withthe constructed cmdline after processing /etc/kernel/cmdline.d/* and /etc/kernel/cmdline but before committing to the bootmanager's config file. That doesn't work either (creating a file /etc/kernel/cmdline-removal.d/rd.luks.uuid.conf containing a line rd.luks.uuid=<UUID> did not remove this part from the cmdline) but I found that rd.luks.name citing the same UUID will just supersede a previous rd.luks.uuid, so that resolves my issue at the moment.
