Budgie - Snap to Quadrants?

So, I now have this 3,440x1,440 monitor, and have been snapping apps to the side halves.
Does Budgie have the ability to snap apps to quadrants?

Hi, and apologies for hijacking this thread for my own needs but I couldn't find any info about Window Snapping in Budgie (so maybe this is also useful for other newcomers). How does one configure snapping? At the moment only snapping (running default latest Solus) I have is Window maximizing when dragged to top (and top corners). I'd really like to have Windows snapped to 50% of screen when dragged to sides, maybe even an option to snap/switch to other workspaces when dragged to corners (if possible). Is this configurable, or is it set in stone?

goldencut You can already snap side-by-side by dragging it to each side of the screen.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong but dragging windows to desktop/screen edge does nothing on my system. I have quite freshly installed Solus with all the updates installed running on Thinkpad X61s. I have tried with multiple windows, maximized windows etc. Do I have to hold some key down?

Edit: Tried disabling and enabling the tiling option in Budgie settings, then rebooted, and it seems most windows now tile to sides when dragged to edges! Great! It seems at least 'Files', 'System Monitor', 'Settings' and 'Photos' doesn't tile, there might be others too.

goldencut I've just tested all three applications, and they are snapping to the left or right of my monitor without issue.

Justin It'll depend on their monitor resolution. I know Nautilus has a minimum window size.

Justin That is weird. I tried many window sizes and no snapping to sides with those apps. Maybe you have older Solus installation so you have some residual configuration settings that my system doesn't have or something..

2 reasons:

Not very useful for small screens
It slightly reduces usability when you try to snap window to the left or right (can't use the snap area close to the corners)

Solarmass 17"? I'm running it on Thinkpad X61s (http://www.notebookreview.com/notebookreview/lenovo-thinkpad-x61s-review/) which apparently has 12" screen with max resolution of 1024x768.. :*

Yea, I'm not surprised at all that you're having issues with side-by-side applications then. 1024x768 makes up less than 2% of the market in 2019, it hasn't been relevant for almost a decade either. Yes it is in the category of "too small". GNOME is also not really interested in supporting that small of resolutions, as you can read here, and I don't really blame them. I wouldn't either in their position.

goldencut From reading Josh's post, I think they're more likely to tell you to come in and smell the roses, it's not the first decade of the twenty-first century any more. My god, it's almost the third 😀 How'd that happen when I wasn't looking?

goldencut No, you should have reasonable expectations in that nobody should support your monitor resolution in 2019.

I can't understand how anyone can work with that resolution today. I got fed up with it almost a decade ago. I think the absolute minimum res you can find on any new computers is 1366x768, and even that is barely useable.

OmegaSupreme 1366x768 needs to be banished. 1920x1080 has existed for so long. It's clear the panel manufacturers made billions of that resolution and are still forcing them at laptop manufacturers.

OmegaSupreme Nostalgia maybe? At work I have MB Pro and some huge fancy display on the side with all the pixels in the world, when I get home I actually enjoy using the old trusty Thinkpad. I do have modern displays and newer computers at home but I only open them when I really need to... I hope I'm not elitist but just enjoy the feel of old high quality hardware. That X61s is still one of the best pieces of hardware I've ever used. The design - how the keyboard and display go right up to the edge of the device filling all available space, the feel of the matte surface finish.. just yummy. Sad to see good hardware go unused. I know it can be lightning fast - I've seen it with Beos, Tinycore, QNX.
