I have the Samsung XPress M2675FN asd printer and scanner. Furthermore, I have the corresponding drivers as tar.gz from the site. The installation is carried out using an "install.sh". Also runs without any problems.
I don't know why, but the scanner doesn't work, Solus can't find it. Are the corresponding directories fundamentally different? i need the scanner.

I think Solus is good, lean installation, few programs that are also installed. But what is that supposed to mean? Any other distribution will find the scanner after installing the drivers.

So the question, what is that supposed to mean? I wanted to switch completely from SIDUCTION to SOLUS, but now I can't

Try it like this. Download the drivers from this page. Unpack and in console sudo /your/file/install-scanner.sh. Click enter, scroll to Do you agree? [y / n: and pressy and enter.

when I start Skanlite in the console as root, it finds the scanner, but not as a normal user.

where is my mistake?

install with

sudo ./install.sh

Install e.g .: sudo eopkg it simple-scanand try to add the scanner as a user. I don't have a scanner so I can't check it.

Thanks for the reply. Skanite is for KDE, simple-scan is for Gnome

What happens when you run scanlite as a user?

scanlite was not found in the Repo's, but

scanimage -L
device v4l:/dev/video0 is a Noname Microsoft® LifeCam HD-3000: Mi virtual device

sudo scanimage -L
Passwort:
device xerox_mfp:libusb:001:004 is a Samsung M267x 287x Series multi-function peripheral
device v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname Microsoft® LifeCam HD-3000: Mi virtual device

there must be a problem with the rights in a directory or file

To get my samsung scanner working, I had to install libusb-compat from the software center. It works wirelessly without any troubles. Brent, above , mentioned the other two posts. Mine was one of them. For whatever reason, libusb-compat allows the scanner to be recognized but is not set as a requirement to install the drivers or scanner software. Good luck! I hope this helps.

And when you run skanlite not scanimage, what happens? Its in the repo sudo eopkg it skanlite

    Sorry for my late reply.
when I start skanlite in the console no message appears. libusb-compat is also installed.

As I said, the scanner is recognized as root.

How can I set the permissions for a user for this scanner?

    4 days later

Maybe the problem will be solved in the next version. I would like to install this distribution because it is very fast compared to the others and because it only installs the bare essentials and gives me more freedom with the programs I want

    permissions :https://discuss.getsol.us/d/7044-epson-l365-printer-useless-after-last-few-updates/5
other resetting permission threads seen by using search function. every case is different

*hard to guage yr problem without more logs on more info, imho.
*Scanlite never works for me. try gscan2pdf. also install sane-backends
*how do you know it's installed correctly? we gotta start somewhere

edit: https://dev.getsol.us/search/query/AFatQSTLTsY1/#R go here---see if there's a samsung scanner quirk filed

I Have had issue with things like this in past on different things try making another user and see if it works properly.
