Hi,

I am trying to install my named printer/scanner. I was able to print without any additional install of a driver but I also need to scan with it.
I downloaded and installed over the Samsung website the correct driver but still can't find a device (tried with LibreOffice - insert-media-scan)

Any suggestions? I am new to Solus and a general linux user in a not expert way.

best regards

P.S. The printer is connected over LAN to my router and has a static IP.

Have you tried the program simple-scan? I use that and always seems to work although I have an HP

    Go here. https://dev.getsol.us/
It's possible the solution for that model exists, ready for download. If not, login (create acct) w/your solus id and start new thread a dev.getsol with that request. These guys and girls are very accommodating and have helped me with printer driver packages in the past. I.E., they build you a custom one. Good luck.

[deleted] I did not know about it until now, I will try out tomorrow. thanks

brent Ok thanks, I will do that too

Also Simple Scan does not work - still not seeing the scanner. Do I need something like sudo eopkg it hplip
      sudo eopkg it sane-backends
? It's for HP printers, so I just checked if sane-backends is installed, which is the case.
If there's nothing like hplib for Samsung I will follow brents advice.

Thanks guys, I am amazed of the fast responses 🙂

Edit: I looked at the sane website and found the following:

      M267x 287x Series | USB | 0x04e8/0x3461 | Unsupported | xerox_mfp (1.0-13)| sane-xerox_mfp

I guess https://dev.getsol.us/ is the only way at the moment, though I will need to open a request since there is no solution already.

Edit2: The drivers from Samsung for reference

      25 days later

Ive had a similar problem with Samsung M2070FW and Samsung universal linux drivers. Ive searched the logs and find out an error that "libusb" was not found . Despite ilogical to a network scanner, i solved it by installing libusb-compat.
