Citrix Workspace App on Solus

Installation of the Citrix workspace app (installed using from tarball and using sudo privs) renders Solus un-usable and un-bootable.

Following what appears to be a successful installation, Solus will fail to launch any new applications and will no longer respond to shutdown or reboot requests. An enforced power-off and restart results in "unable to execute /sbin/init".

Tested using Citrix Workspace App 2104 and 2106.

Thanks for the prompt response, Brent.

I've done several re-build and re-installs now and it all works fine provided I answer 'n' at the 'install app protection?' question within their installation script.

sbenne27 brent yes, you want to answer "n" for "install app protection". It's also an option when setting up your Citrix environment sometime depending on how the enterprise manages their Citrix store, always say no. This option will in most cases break something and cannot be changed after you select it.

You can say "y" for GStreamer and "n" for USB.

I've got Citrix running currently on my Budgie machine without issue now, had it running on my Plasma laptop for a while but decided to stop using that for work and only for personal use. When you see the log in screen you'll see an option for Citrix Log In under the password box, no idea what it does and haven't tried it. I Borked my previous install with a Citrix update the same way you're seeing so I've been very careful what I do with now.

Just spitballin, I don't use the app, just occasionally the browser extension. I will defer to @Brucehankins who was succesful or anyone else that knows Citrix. I do not know the answer of that y/n question--someone will.

I've installed successfully CITRIX Workspace on UBUNTU, Elementary OS, Voyager Live, Parrot OS, openSUSE Leap & Tumbleweed, Fedora 35, RedHat RHEL8.4, AlmaLinux, CentOS, ArcOLinux, RebornOS, Manjaro AND ... SOLUS ...

Here is a ScreenShot of Solus with :

Firefox with CITRIX Workspace running an rwa2 connexion
rwa2 running with an RPD inside !
An root terminal running successfully eopkg upgrade

( I've masqued addresses with small LO-Writter Windows 🙂 )

Then CITRIX Workspace (21.09 ) runs with no issues on Solus 4.3 installed this morning ( with encrypted disk )
Glad to help you to install CITRIX but I need more details concerning your install.

Issue with date, fresh install : Time Zone was not setted correctly and in fact NTP desabled 🙂

Hello. Thanks for trying to help with this. More detail on my issue...
In-brief:

Solus Budgie desktop running in a VM using Oracle VirtualBox.
Citrix running inside Budgie refuses to acknowledge the USB headset as a device as either an input or an output device.
Citrix install was done from the tarball, installed using sudo and with all answers left as default except for the browser integration, which I don't require. App protection disabled, as always.

Install of Citrix Workspace App goes fine (running version 21.11.0.20) which was freshly installed this week.

^^ As you can see, Citrix USB daemon reports as successfully loaded.

Solus desktop itself has no issues seeing my USB headset and microphone - both work fine.

^^ Plantronics headset available to Solus desktop and both inputs and outputs test fine.

Citrix connects to office desktop environment just fine but refuses to pass-through the headset as a usable device.

^^ USB devices not available within the office desktop machine (Citrix target environment).

I should probably say, to clear-up the obvious thoughts about Oracle VirtualBox being a factor. I have tried exactly the same set-up on Ubuntu and everything works perfectly ... I'm just not a Ubuntu man.
