Edit: It seems I have an old firmware for the WWAN. I will try to update and report back.

No dice, mmcli -m 0 specifically says that failed reason is "sim-missing". Others who had this issue seem to have gotten it resolved by upgrading the firmware for the WWAN-card. Installed FW is L831_V2E.0C.00.10, and the newest on Lenovos website is L831_V2E.0C.00.19.

Now I'm trying to find out how I can upgrade FW without having to install Windows over Solus...

I dont have an x270 to help you but I have an thinkpad x250 and with the commands "watpi" said is working correctly.

Update: I tested a live usb of Ubuntu 19, and the card and connection worked out of the box, so I can rule out faulty hardware and firmware issues.
Is Solus using different/older drivers or something?

Hi there if you do the commands watpi told "sudo systemctl enable ModemManager" and you reboot, do you have still the same problem ?
