Oh cool! This Friday?
So all official add-ons will be installed?

    During the upcoming sync, yes.

The build uses the upstream binary add-on build target for building all of them, so barring any upstream (or yours truly) booboos all official binary add-ons will be included in the install, yes.

It means that you don't have to download e.g. YouTube add-on, just enable it, right?

        Exactly.

In fact, the YouTube add-on (and the companion inputstream.adaptive binary plugin) is confirmed to work on my own HTPC. YMMV.

What if there is an upstream add-on update available?

Thanks ermo for getting Kodi 18.1 to us Solus users, really appreciate it. Very excited to try it out!

Nothing is stopping you from doing a local build of kodi if you really need the update?

FWIW, I'm still figuring out how I want to tackle this going forward.

Very unlikely I will do it 😀

Well, I mean right now I get notifications when add-ons updates are available and I can install them immediately.
But in Kodi 18.1 (Solus package) it will work differently: I assume via Software Center with some delay.

I'm only talking about the official binary add-ons -- normal add-ons will update like you're used to.

I've updated the OP with a link to official binary add-on build procedure which might help yield a better understanding of what they are.

Ok, maybe I am confused about the official binary add-ons/normal add-ons difference.

@Solarmass Kodi 18.1-r47 contains the patch you linked to and was landed in -unstable.

Hello, I installed Kodi in Solus Budgie and it works perfectly, way better than on my Windows computer. Tomorrow will be a day of formatting, installing Solus and use Kodi without all the bugs I encountered in Win version.
                A big thank you!

Kodi 18 has games support now (built-in emulators). But looks like emulators are not included for linux version 😕

@ermo unfortunately today fix didn't solve the problem with subs

Well shit. I'm currently away from home. I'll rip a DVD when I get home and test it over the weekend.

Have you checked out the included binary add-ons?

Well, I don't see Emulators category.

To get the game emulator addons, browse to Addons > Download > Install from Repository > Kodi Addon-Repository > Game Addons > Emulators
You will see a listing of available game addon emulators for your system. You will need at least one emulator for each system you're interested in playing.

Game emulator addons are available in the Kodi repository for Windows, OSX, Android and LibreElec users.

Game emulator addons are available in the Kodi nightly ppa for Linux users. You can download the game addons individually using these commands:
