Anki window is blank

Very strange issue. Unless I launch Anki from a terminal, its main window is blank. Only the menu bar is visible. In that state when I enter the Browse window, both windows refuse to close, then I have to kill Anki. Has anyone encountered this?

Neither disabling addons, nor creating a new profile, nor starting without any user data or configs help.

So if I understand you correctly everything is fine when you launch anki from the terminal?

I changed my locale settings in Plasma at some point. I compared different environment variables set between Plasma's launcher and the terminal, and it turns out that having LANG not set to en_US.UTF-8 caused the the problem.

In KDE Menu Editor, I just set the launch command for Anki to LANG=en_US.UTF-8 anki to get it working again.

ximbietc Hey, thanks for reporting back. As soon as we have Python 3.9 in the repository anki will receive a big update, hopefully also fixing this issue. (or maybe I'll try to fix it before that)
