WetGeek My little ASUS TravelMate does have a touch screen
Aw, snap! I installed VirtualBox there, but it would not start the host daemon. I was able to go through the motions to create the VM, but when it came time to tell it to start, it couldn't do that. Not surprising, after all.
Finally I remembered that a couple years ago the tablet I used to read ebooks (Nook, mostly) had stopped responding to me, and I couldn't turn pages or even shut it off. The tablet was several years old, hadn't cost much, and I didn't want to stop reading my Nook books, so I bought another.
Then when my original tablet's battery had run down all the way, I charged it fully, restarted Android, started the Nook app, and all was good. So the new tablet was (and has been) unused for all this time.
Today I charged it, installed the Ring app on it, and connected to my doorbell. Its case works as an easel, so I'm able to set it on a table and see the view from the doorbell (10" scrreen). It needs to be reconnected every now and then, but it's the closest I've come to success yet. Until some other solution becomes available, I'll stick with this for now.
