Need Help with Debugging

Hi,

I have encountered an error in Evolution email client - it's described on this Gnome subforum, https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/1480 (Evolution is made by the Gnome team.)

The developers suggest that I use debugging tools that are apparently distro-specific. The Gnome website offers no such instructions in regards to Solus. Quote:

Can you please get us a stack trace which includes debug symbols? It does not include debug symbols by default, so you have to install or compile debug symbols for the application and the libraries that it uses. Please see https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/Bugzilla/GettingTraces for more information on how to do so and make sure it has debug symbols.

You just need to install evolution-dbginfo (the debug symbols for evolution) and gdb from the repo.

Also no offense but there really isn't much use in following up on that bug report until you have the latest GNOME stack, which per latest blog is coming tomorrow. You're using an outdated Evolution at this point 😉

Update: there has been a continuation to this story later in the thread and it turned out someone else has already filed a detailed report on a Fedora OS forum. So my input isn't needed anymore. But again, thanks anyway.
