I installed on a stock 2009 MacBook Pro (2Gb) and comparing it to other lightweight distro's this was by far the best in terms of look and feel right out of the can.
After install I opened the software centre and tried to apply updates.
As far as I can tell the 2Gb of RAM wasn't being particularly stressed out, but maybe I should have closed down the web browser before attempting this. There should have been a solid network as I'm using a wired ethernet cable, but our rural broadband does have occasional issues, so there may have been a network failure.
I left the machine running, but it froze during the process and I was left in no position other than to hard reset.
Following this the machine won't boot, either from the install on the HD, or from the USB/eFi boot.
I'd really like to keep using this great distro, I'm going to blast the machine away and start again but I'm a bit worried about applying updates.
I noticed that there were some other people with issues during updates but I think I screwed the pooch here by the reboot, though I didn't have any option. Theories? RAM. Does a fail in updating kill boot normally? Perhaps I should attempt this on a more solid network just in case.
Additionally : I booted on USB again and received the following message when trying to reinstall
"Installation has failed....
Failed to apply format /dev/sda2: Command '/sbin/pvcreate. -ff -y /dev/sda2' returned non-zero exit status 5
Failed to apply disk strategy"
Wondering if I should slap another drive into the machine, or find out how to format the existing one to see if that could help.
