This isn't a problem report ... merely a curiosity that I've been wondering about for a long time.
When I want to end a Solus session, I need to use the argument now
after the shutdown
command if I want to do it without a fuss. Otherwise, we have a ritual that includes sending any other users a message warning them that the system will be terminated in 5 seconds. Only then does the shutdown
command take effect.
But if I give the reboot
command with no argument, it's carried out immediately. No delay. No warning. I've never understood why rebooting the system comes with no warning to others, but a shut down does. Is there really a rational reason for this difference in behavior?
