Turn off certain notifications?

Working with Plasma here. A while back, I made the mistake of approving notifications from a news organization I watch on TV. By the time I'd seen a few hundred of their notifications (which actually didn't do anything for me), I thought I'd look for a way to DIS-allow those notifications. And I'm still looking.

Can anyone tell me how to turn OFF the input from a particular source, after having stupidly approved receiving notifications from them?

Isn't this something you need to reverse/contact CNN (or whoever) about?
or did some app leverage itself into the operating system notifications?
or did you allow these notifications thru the browser?
I am missing something here, but I do that..

Yeah. That's how I stream content to the telly. These are from NewsMax, where I sometimes get the news.

you can do inside the notification settings, dunno the exact names in englisch using german system here

settings --> notifications --> settings for applications (the lowest settings) there you have per applications when they support it

Thanks to you and brent for trying to help, but so far I haven't figured it out. I did look where you suggested, but couldn't find what I thought I was looking for.

I sometimes watch the news program called NewsMax using a browser (Vivaldi) connected to NewsMax.com. At one time, NewsMax offered to send notifications to me, and like a fool, I approved that. Now I can't figure out how to undo that approval, after deciding that the notifications mean nothing to me.

So the notifications don't actually come from Vivaldi, but from a web site I'm connected to. So I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place to turn off the NewsMax notifications.

EDIT: As I re-read what I wrote, it occurred to me that maybe I should connect to the NewsMax site, and see if there's a way to shut them off from there. I'll try that next.

Made me think if apps like a browser could dictate registry settings, then how does it work in Linux? A lot easier maybe. The answer could be in Viv. privacy settings but...

Do a Dolphin search for newsmax? I'm reaching here....but something is barking orders and it can be disabled somewhere methinks

I was looking for a clue on my Plasma laptop, until I realized that I should be looking on the Plasma desktop that streams stuff to our telly. Problem is, my wife is currently binging on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. So I need to wait until tomorrow morning to look there.

WetGeek that show reflects the treacherous stuff I had to do from 14 on...I value a work ethic as much as Rowe---though I get the feeling its value is diminished (editorial over!) over time.
the news feed from the website, whether you are visiting or not, triggers an alert somewhere in the OS or browser? have we determined which? I get it, it's annoying like a mosquito. Have fun🙂

I think I may have found the solution, but I won't know for sure for a while. On the media machine, I opened the menu and entered Notifications in the search field. A list of four items was shown. At the bottom of that list, was an entry that I didn't quite understand, but it contained Vivaldi in it. I clicked on it, expecting to see more of a clue, but instead the menu disappeared.

I repeated that step, typing Notifications in the menu's search field again, This time a list with three entries in it was displayed, The one containing Vivaldi at the bottom was missing. I'm pretty sure the menu was listing sources of notifications, and I had removed Vivaldi as a source. As we watch TV starting today, if I don't see any notifications from NewsMax, that will confirm my suspicions.

Being a glutton for punishment, I entered Notifications once more into the menu search field, and two items appeared in the list. (I'm pretty sure the first item was just a caption.) When I clicked on that second item, which was now at the bottom of the list, the System Settings Notifications settings dialog appeared.

I tried the same thing on my laptop, and no list was displayed. It simply opened the System Setting for Notifications. That sounds about right. I don't think I ever approved seeing notifications from any non-Plasma source on my laptop.

Quite the opposite of windows...I think if newsmax was your only non-Plasma exception you may have extinguished it. Fingers crossed.
