Increasing Mouse Pointer Size

This topic has been brought up before, but to my knowledge there wasn't a good solution for it.

Has anyone figured out how to increase the size of a mouse pointer on hi-resolution monitors? With our 4K telly screen on the other side of the living room, sometimes it's really hard to see the mouse pointer, especially when the screen is a bit cluttered.

Is there a theme or setting that can help with this? I keep looking, but so far I've found nothing.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find that (or install it) on Plasma. I'm pretty sure that won't be a problem.

I spoke too soon. I found the dconf setting after I installed the dconf-editor, and changed it from 24 to 48, then rebooted. That appeared to affect only the login screen. Got me excited at first, but as soon as I logged in, the mouse pointer reverted to its original tiny size.

I'm now guessing that the setting I need might be in a different location in dconf for Plasma than it is for Budgie. I'll need to wait until my wife isn't watching TV to look for it. Shutting it down again so soon would not be good for my health.

Is dconf strictly for gnome? It's something I haven't needed to use before, so I'm not very familiar with it.

KDE doesn't use dconf. In KDE, settings are stored in simple text files rather than a database. The GUI for changing these settings is systemsettings, although individual application settings are usually set within the application.

Rats! I thought I finally found it. I located cursor themes in the global theme settings, and changed it again from 24 to 48. As soon as I applied it, the change looked wonderful. Then as soon as I moved the mouse away from the settings dialog, it again reverted to its original tiny size.

Maybe when I reboot it will go into effect elsewhere, but my earlier health warning still applies for now.

Yes! I did that between episodes of what my wife was watching, and indeed it worked! Now I can see the damned thing from across the living room.

No, I use Vivaldi where I can, and Chrome where I have to (for local channels on tv.youtube.com). We stream Netflix, BritBox, YouTube TV, and Discovery+.

Does Kodi simplify things for those of us who stream content to our TVs?

I don't know, because I don't use these streaming services. Maybe there are some addons.
I use Kodi for local videos + Kodi YouTube addon (favorite channels). I also have Vivaldi on the 2nd workspace for browsing and also YouTube. Vivaldi is great for that because it has UI Zoom setting and Webpage zoom setting.

I have a few thousand of those on the NAS, too, that were accumulated over a lifetime. I'll take a look at Kodi. Thanks.

I'll have to look for that. So far I've connected to my NAS shares for videos and music. After trying to connect to them over the network for a while, I decided to try connecting to their mount points in /mnt, and that worked.

Kodi looks really nice. I've installed it on my laptop, because the TV is currently in use, but I'll install it on the media machine tomorrow morning and get to know it better.

So far, the only way I could figure out to exit from Kodi was to log out of my Solus session. I hope there's an easier way that I just haven't discovered yet.
