Trouble with Lutris

Hello guys, how's everyone doing? I tried to start up Lutris today after doing some updating and every time I click it to open it, it loads up the logo on the dock, then after about 15 seconds. It just closes automatically. The screen never boots up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Python-lxml but it doesn't seem to work.

Nickman Are you sure that your system is updated?

algent Yeah, I went to the software center and it said software is up to date, I clicked check for updates and it still said my software was updated. I don't know why my system wouldn't be updated, it has the newest version 4.2.

Nickman Can you open terminal and run lutris -d so you can get any logs.

Nickman Can you try to just reinstall them:
sudo eopkg it --reinstall lutris python-distro -y

algent I tried to reinstall them, it succeeded but it still will not load up. I'll try the comment above and see if anything works. If you have any other suggestions let me know. I kind'a have to get Lutris working for a speech in class next week.

Staudey Would I copy and paste the patch into the terminal or no? How exactly do I fix it with the patch?

Nickman You can't simply copy and paste that patch in terminal, but it has to be backported during packaging which has to be done from our maintainer. Then you will get the fixed lutris in weekly updates or install it from our unstable repo.
Honestly I don't use lutris, but I installed it to check if it is working when you started this issue and it was launched fine.
I suggest you to try to remove these folders to start over:
.config/lutris
.cache/lutris
.local/share/lutris.

algent Well I need this to be fixed quickly because I will be giving a speech next week using it. So when I remove those folders, I would reinstall Lutris from the terminal, right?

Nickman No, no need to reinstall, just launch lutris -d, hopefully it will work.

algent Would I type sudo eopkg remove before the folder names you mentioned above? I don’t use the terminal that often.

Nickman Open terminal and run:

rm -r .config/lutris .cache/lutris .local/share/lutris
No need for sudo because those are user files.

Then start lutris, and wait it to launch.

Now do I type a command in the terminal, like launch litrus -d? Or something else

Nickman Yes just run on terminal lutris -d.
-d stands for --debug it is needed to show debug messages.
