I came to the same conclusion a short while ago, and replaced most of my Budgie installations with Plasma. I had tried some earlier versions and was unimpressed, but there's been a great deal of improvement lately.

Juankz I got the same thing here on Budgie with skippy-xd , well worth if you like Budgie and want to tweak it a bit. 😃

elfprince I love simple too. I gave the trophy above in the spirit of @Girtablulu 's hard work as well. The peeps that work Solus deserve all the kudos. But I'm unsure I've exhausted or explored all of Budgie's customization's yet...and Im still happy here.

Same here. That was the one computer in this house that I didn't migrate to Plasma. But then, she mostly uses it for email and various solitaire games, and Budgie does a bang-up job for her. With Plasma, she might lose herself in settings and options.

Yeah, that's one thing I don't like. Too many settings and options makes for too much complexity. I prefer simplicity. Just me. 😁

I didn't fall in love right away. First, I created Plasma and MATE VMs on my Budgie laptop. And I created a Plasma SSD for my Budgie workstation that can mount hot-swappable SSDs, and updated it with each week's upgrades*, After a while, I decided to leave the Plasma SSD in the workstation , configure it more fully, and give it a more comprehensive test-drive. I found that it had reached a point where I liked it a lot.

Eventually, I created another Plasma SSD for my daily-use laptop, and used it for all of my everyday activity, setting aside the Budgie SSD just in case I ever changed my mind. The more I got accustomed to it, the more I liked it. Next, I tried Plasma in the media computer, and found that it solved some minor personality disorders of the MATE edition I'd been using to stream TV content, and the rest is history.

* SSDs of modest capacity are cheap these days. I still update spare Budgie, Plasma, MATE, and Gnome SSDs every week, because it's fast and easy, and I like to watch them as they mature.

@laky It wasn't just that feature, there were more things like:

Arranging virtual desktops on a grid, this is a personal preference of mine, but it makes my workflow better.
Changing themes in budgie was more of a hit or miss, some messed with the panel transparency and raven, and the integrated desktop flag doesn't fit a light theme. Customization in KDE feels more coherent.
KDE seems to have better performance

To be honest I have tried KDE in the past and could never like it, I also enjoy the simplicity of budgie. But there are things that Solus KDE did well in my opinion:

Solus doesn't bundle dozens of KDE Apps for the sake of it being KDE. I didn't spent time uninstalling software I wouldn't use. For me this was a big turn down point on other KDE distros.
Has sane defaults

Finally although I had to search on duckduckgo where to modify the things I wanted (settings are indeed overwhelming) I got the system exactly as I needed it. It was a one time effort and a lot of gain.

Juankz opinions may vary on this subject, but I must agree Solus KDE out of the box is one of the best looking that I've seen compared to other KDE distros, kudos to the maintainer @Girtablulu and the rest of the staff!!
However I did use Plasma and compared it to Budgie before I made the switch, there was literally no diff in its performance and even if there where I couldn't really see it.They both performed excellent. At the end it all depends up to the user to decide. Small spoiler (for gamers) I 've heard that KDE actually is not doing that well with NVIDIA atm not sure if that is still an issue but that is just what I've heard. (Not just Solus issue)

I have NVIDIA. The only issue I had with games was not being able to run the latest proton on steam. But that's ok because they work just fine with previous versions. Native games run perfectly, no issues whatsoever.
