It seems like there is a chat app for every platform, publisher, and interface available. We have Hangouts, GChat, Signal, Telegram, Whatsapp, Line, iMessage, IRC, Matrix, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Viber, Voxer, Slack, WeChat, Discord, Google Messages (RCS), and the list goes on!
What chat app do you use? Do you use 1, 2, 3 or more? Why do you prefer said chat app? Why should someone switch to it?
I have some social media accounts, Twitter, Snapchat, etc., but I almost never use their chat features. My go to has been Signal for the past several years now. It works great, it's secure and E2E encrypted when used with other Signal users, and on mobile it handles SMS just fine. At work, it's either email or iMessage, we have Skype and Teams, but they're barely used. I also don't have any large group chats or "channels" I'm a part of, so my needs are minimal. It seems like tons of people though are using Discord, Telegram, and probably 3-4 other services just to communicate, so I was curious what people here prefer.
