So last month I obtained a new low budget laptop (HP Pavilion) and promptly decided to remove the OS that came pre-installed after downloading and burning a few popular distros to USB, both the Gnome and KDE versions of Solus. With each and every distro I’ve attempted to install it appears that after installation it takes some time, usually >10 seconds to be able to log in using my passcode. Additionally, after various amounts of time the Desktop Environments stop functioning. This leads me to believe it probably is more a result of the HP hardware and or the Intel Hardware assembled within the system. Another issue appears to be within the BIOS that seems to be “locked down” by the vendor and I am very limited as to those parameters that can be changed.
With all that said, is there a way that I can in fact verify that it is indeed a vendor issue and what commands can I use to identify the causes of these issues?
