JoshStrobl That was the point when I left the main Ubuntu. No official Unity support.

And I used Fedora with GNOME, OpenSUSE GNOME/KDE, Manjaro XFCE, plain Arch setup for the masochist kicks, Mint, and some others before and after too (who knows what all), PopOS (seemed interesting) as last one before this gem of a Solus.

God knows why, there was once a VERY short Solaris time too...hell knows why, I must have been in a stupid week period...

I think I never used Unity (only in VM)
The main menu was rather cute, but I don't like the concept of the panel on the left side + only icons view. Oh, and the window buttons on the left 😕
I like my panel on the bottom.

I think people were too harsh on unity, including me.

Me: Eck so ugly and the sidebar... WHY?! Such a large applications draw wtf is with that. The default config sucks. The next version of unity has been in development for what seems like a decade! Just kill it an use something else...
Canonical: We are killing unity
Me: YAY, FINALLY!!! WOOOOO 🎉
Canonical: We're going to just use GNOME shell.
Me: ...What was wrong with unity? It was perfectly fine. 😐

Brucehankins Yes, the Ubuntu Unity Remix, slowly developing further thanks to a nice fellow in open source, BUT...it is too late for us I guess. We've found our main interest. However, upon new developments and great strikes, it always could be evaluated on a separate device or drive of a PC. For the fun and kicks.

In Unity I liked the global menu and the space it left on space for actual work. I left Ubuntu, when they switched to that new Gnome monster.
I still have the panel on the left, as you have more space in horizontal as you have in vertical and I like to have as many lines of code visible as possible.
In Budgie it is so damn easy to simply switch the panel to whatever side you want... In Cinnamon that was a little more intense task.
Also the dark theme out of the box is something I like.
