replace desktop environment

I initially installed solus with budgie, but after testing a bit with gnome from a live usb I decided to add gnome as DE to solus. but now I want to remove budgie entirely.I like the activities thing, it helps me switch between apps faster and find them faster.
is this possible and if so, how?

Huh ...many of us are probably wondering why you would want to replace the most popular DE with the least popular one.
That aside, I think it's great that the Solus team works so hard to provide us with such a choice. So many distributions don't.

I created an Openbox and Tint2 environment that I run on top of Solus Budgie. Using the lightdm display manager, I can switch desktops upon login; ref. this. I'm thinking you should be able to do the same thing.

Great opportunity to nuke and pave. Why not install Gnome fresh? Every time I install a Linux Distro/DE I learn more than I knew before. My Linux skill grows with each new adventure. Have fun!
