sorry for being one of 'those' people, but I really have no alternative. I've searched far and wide, done everything people recommended, yet nothing works.
So, I was screwing around with updates on Solus, and then suddenly my System Preferences application and even the shutdown menu stopped working. Someone recommended I'd reinstall a couple packages related to GNome, which I did. I force restarted my laptop, and after that I couldn't even reach the beautiful login screen anymore. All the user gets is a mouse cursor that's smoothly movable, but the background is a sad, dark void. Waiting doesn't help. I've done eopkg database rebuilds, package updates through the ttyl terminal, to no avail. 'xstart' doesn't work either. Also checked if there are any incomplete packages. Nothing. I'd appreciate if anybody could help. Thank you in advance.
