Hello,
I just tested Solus KDE for the first time coming from Manjaro KDE. I was let down in a few key areas. I have requirements that were not met by Solus.
I wanted to install it on HTPC and Storage PC but since I use a few key apps that I couldn't find on Discover (The package Manager used by Solus).. Those apps are TimeShift, NoMachine, RealVNC and Plex Media Server.
Having to install flatpak, snap-store to see if they available is counter-productive. I could only find Plex on Snap-Store, as for others unfortunately no sign of them.
Now, to be clear, I am no Linux user per say, I am coming from Windows. So been on Linux only 2 months. I really want to use Solus on those 2 PCs but with missing essentials I just can't.
I wish Solus moved away from Discover n added another better App-Store, and added Snap/Flatpak support OOB. Also the packages I mentioned made easy to find..
I know the Solus team is small, so I will give it another chance when it has matured a bit more... It's by far the smoothest KDE experience I have had, and being a Rolling Distro is an amazing bonus.. But still needs time to mature a bit more..
Great Job guys...
Hope to use Solus as main soon 😉
