@JoshStrobl implemented a new desktop icon solution for Budgie since they were removed from Nautilus a long time ago, forcing it to be held back in versions. The main thing to keep in mind is that it isn't trying to act as a file manager, just as a way to quickly and easily get to your things. The next big thing on the TODO list is drag-and-drop support, I believe.
I cant move around my icons
This is due to the way the icon system is implemented (using a GtkFlowBox which allows for automatic sorting/layout/display and not having to think about layouts and stuff that you would if a GtkGrid was used instead).
I cant make a selection or highlight of the icons
As said earlier, it isn't a file manager, so there isn't really anything one could do with that functionality as it's designed.
I think the icon fonts are different from before, its shadow outline is abit strong, Im not sure maybe its just my head
Being a from-scratch implementation, it won't use the exact same styling as Nautilus. Hopefully in the future, GTK themes will style these the desktop view elements. 🙂
Software Center is forever stuck in Discombobulating update matrix
That I have nothing for, besides Software Center being its usual self.
