Hey everyone,
Thanks for your feedback and I'm going through some of the issues you've all reported and looking to see if there are fixes already included. Thanks to many of you that have already tested 5.10, including some of the kernels I've put on the server to help validate various patches. Love you all, you're great.
For those that have issues with SDDM (if you use Plasma, this is your display / login manager), I have reverted that from 0.19.0 to 0.18.1 with @Girtablulu's approval. It is currently in unstable and I'll be looking to getting it pushed to stable today.
Until then, you can install it by running the following command:
sudo eopkg install https://mirrors.rit.edu/solus/packages/unstable/s/sddm/sddm-0.18.1-27-1-x86_64.eopkg
This is the latest package release (27) so you don't need to revert it when it gets pushed to stable, the relno will match.
Regarding other reported issues:
- It's good to see that the Intel Haswell patch resolved that specific issue. Regarding Bluetooth, I'll need to know the specific chipset. @Meztli
- I'll continue to look into issues regarding DisplayPort for the 5700XT. I'm adding yet another patch to yet another build of the kernel, plus there was a new linux-firmware release while I was sleeping so that's been pushed to unstable. I'll have installation instructions for amd+amdgpu users when that's ready.
While I certainly appreciate everyone's engagement on this task, I ask that you only comment if you have new information (such as from new testing I'd request), not "me toos" for already reported issues. The number of people having an issue isn't relevant to me fixing it, because if it's more than zero people then it's already too many, and the additional comments end up creating more noise and make it harder for me to aggregate issues and look for solutions.
Apologies again for the roadbumps. I think you all now know why we typically wait a few point releases to jump on board a new kernel 😛
If you have issues with 5.10 and you're looking to this task for a "how the heck can I return to the land of a functional kernel?", spam the spacebar during bootup and you should see a menu that will allow you to pick the 5.6 kernel.
