First of all MakeMKV is available as a snap package.
sudo snap install makemkv
But its going to rip the content to as many individual files as it was put on the original disc with. This is usually 1 for the feature (Or one per episode for series) and then every bit of bonus content is its own file. I am unaware of DVD / Blu-ray rippers for Linux that are going to create a single ISO for you to mount and fiddle with like a physical disc. Preserving menu's etc.
The thing to note about MakeMKV is it is annoyingly "Free while in beta" a state it has been in for decades. What it means is every so often the license key expires and you need to go to their forums and get the new beta key. (Or just purchase a license). This is how they intend it to work... 👀
The current key is valid until the end of January 2021: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053
DVD / Blu-ray ripping has never been a user friendly experience. There is region locks requiring apps or custom DVD/ Blu-ray drive firmware to bypass, an all sorts of other slightly different protection schemes that makes universal single button click ripping nothing but a dream. MakeMKV usually just worked but it would fail from time to time.
I remember trying to teach some non computer people how to do it. It did not go well.
So glad I don't deal with that stuff anymore.
