A huge update today. And as usual, nothing to complain about. SOOOOO annoying.
Seriously : a great job guys. TOP.

Fast upgrade, 167 eopkgs, reboot, Budgie is ready for 2021!
Great work Team Solus! 😄

Huge thanks to all the amazing testers during this stack upgrade. There was tons of feedback to go through, bugs with fixes to backport from GNOME, and improvements that I was able to make elsewhere thanks to the feedback.

A few numbers to quantify today's upgrade. Number of upgraded packages and total download sizes are:

    • plasma: 250 - 479.51 M
    • gnome: 165 - 498.35 M
    • budgie: 165 - 316.03 M
    • mate: 127 - 223.90 M

314 Updates just flew by, not a bump! 😁 Thank you, Team Solus!

Hello ! Just a little issue: my mouse (on two differents Solus computers) froze. I was unable to click anywhere. This lasted for 10 minutes, and it's gone. I'm not complaining at all; just giving the info. Solus is great !

Ran into some instability issues post-upgrade this afternoon - the system has hard locked entirely several times doing different activities. Once was switching tabs in Firefox, another was moving workspaces. It did not respond to any attempts to drop back to tty or using REISUB. Had to use the power button to force a shutdown. If there's any information i can provide to help narrow down the issue, let me know what would work best!

Great update, no issues. Now I need kernel 5.10 and I'm happy 🙂

Can I remove nautilus without problems in the future? Will this affect the overall operation of Budgie Desktop or not?

The new "budgie-desktop-view" does not work for my main account. Calling "us.getsol.budgie-desktop-view" from a terminal results in a "Segmentation fault". The feature works with 2 others accounts on the machine, so it must be something specific to my user settings. If anybody needs a corefile, I need help to turn them one, I did not manage to persuade systemd-cordump to actually save a core file. Thanks for the great work on solus.

JoshStrobl have installed a somewhat older Thoshiba notebook with Solus Plasma and hardly use it how can I become a tester? I've already read it but don't think so, it would be nice if I could contribute something to this great system

putzerstammer Sure. Just so you're aware though, you basically need to live in the development IRC channel and check that before updating (we always update the topic when someone shouldn't update in case of major breakage at the time, like if we're in the middle of an upgrade spanning a bunch of software). If you look at the GNOME 3.38 testing task, there is instructions there for switching to the unstable repo. I won't put them here because I feel sometimes folks underestimate how much churn there is on unstable, don't follow our advice of checking IRC, and end up with a broken system 😛

Since yesterday's update I have problems with MPV. Occasionally all controls (including close, minimize and maximize) disappear and when switching between fullscreen and windowed mode there are strange graphical errors (the edges of the player hang in the air without any connection to the actual window). The option to hide the controls is not the cause.

Graphics problems with GNOME have been reported in another thread; could this be related?
