Brucehankins one thing I've noticed across multiple machines, Windows doesn't play nice with Linux
Windows understands that Linux will be its biggest competitor for desktops before long. Linux is already eating Microsoft's lunch when it comes to server farms. I hate dual-boot schemes, though, and all the trouble they can cause.
If it weren't for my Ring doorbell and my Nook ebook application, I would have zero need for Windows. My approach, though was to create a VirtualBox VM for Windows 10 Pro, and use that exclusively for those two applications. And now that I have a nice new tablet for the ebook reading, I really only use the Ring doorbell app to see who's on my front porch.
Besides eliminating all the headaches that can come with a dual-boot scheme, I can use Solus and Windows simultaneously. I don't need to close all my Solus apps and shut down that OS in order to start up Windows and load the Ring app to see who's ringing the doorbell. I just change to the workspace where the VM is running. Afterwards, another mouse click takes me back to what I was doing in Solus.
Obviously, this idea won't work for everybody, but for those with a capable CPU and sufficient RAM it can work wonders. Others will need to put up with running just one OS at a time.
