I have to reinstall Solus, but I'm running into prblems with nvidias drivers.

  • Installed Solus from current iso. After restart, it took > 400 updates... Maybe a more recent iso would help
  • I have a Nvidia GeForce GT 710
  • Installed provided 455 (lts) -> System does not start after reboot
  • Installed provided 455 (current). -> dito

Maybe the 455 driver does not support my graphics card. At least 450 does. but this version is not in the repo.
Log file says nouveau drivers were installed.
Do I miss something?
TIA Kibu

Just tested. Installed doFlicky from github. Installed selected drivers. Solus does not start after reboot.
Anyhow thanks for the tip.

[deleted] ..doflicky is a default solus application..now you have two mangled versions of it?

Not really. It's written in Python, so that should make no difference.
I meanwhile have resinstalled Solus. Tried the provided doflicky and installed both the 64 and 32 bit drivers. Same result.
After new installation of Solus, I tried the driver form nVidias home page. The installation is a nightmare.
stop lightdm,. remove nouveau driver, install gcc, make, dl (ld ?). And voila, it's not in the repo.
For the time being I will use nouveau.

[deleted] this happened to me identical to what you report here. except nouveau sandbagged my system and nvidia strangely restored it.

Weird, the 455 driver should support your GeForce GT 710 just fine.
So you're fully up-to-date? (if driver and kernel package have a mismatch you won't be able to boot either)

You could try and see if the nvidia-390-glx-driver packages work.

        sudo eopkg it nvidia-390-glx-driver-common nvidia-390-glx-driver-current nvidia-390-glx-driver-32bit
