Tool to "burn" iso file on flash drive

Is there a tool in Software Center to "burn" an iso file onto a flash drive? I looked at Brasero, but it seems that is just for DVDs. If there is no such tool, can it be done from a command line in terminal?

Gnome MultiWriter works fine.

The article Preparing to install in the Help Center answers your question. Although the mentioned Gnome MultiWriter isn’t found when I search for this in the Software Center – dd works fine.

Learning dd also works. But if you want GUI, then Etcher does the job.

I recently stumbled upon this gem https://gitlab.com/bztsrc/usbimager. It's a very small, simple, and yet effective application for just this purpose. Grab the X11 package, extract the binary, make it executable, and just run it.

Would be nice as a package, but it's so simple you don't really need it.

I'm pretty sure Gnome Disks is installed by default and can do this. you can even right-click an ISO in Nautilus and select "Open with Disk Image Writer". well, this is the case on Budgie anyway, I dunno about Plasma and Mate 🙂

When I tried that, the closest I could get is Open with Disk Image Mounter. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to mount the ISO, but to burn it to an SSD.

Frankly, I find Etcher both easy to use and well designed. No .ISO that I've burned with it has ever failed to launch and complete the installation. Having found a tool that works well, I've had little reason, other than pure curiosity, to look for any other method.

I'm guessing that dialogue changes depending on whether you have a USB stick mounted, or something. if you open Disks, click the top-right "…" dropdown and click "Restore disk image…" you'll get the same disk writer popup window.
