When I go through initial screens of the Solus Mate installation, a swap partition of 4 GB is selected automatically. Am I correct that in order to get the swap partition size I want, I have to first use gparted to create that partition, and then restart the installation? If so, would someone please guide me through those steps?
Right now, I have a day-old Fedora installation that I'm going to replace with Solus. Using the KDE Partition Manager that I have in that installation, I see the following:
Partition Type Mount Point Label Partition Label Size Used
WDC WD3200AAJS56M0A0 - 298.09 GiB (/dev/sda)
/dev/sda1 ext4 /boot 1.00 GiB 226.53MiB
/dev/sda2 lvm2 pv /fedora_localhost-live 297.09 GiB 297.09 GiB
As I indicated above, I am gathering that I would not want to the partitioning while in KDE Partition Manager, but would instead want to do it from gparted in the USB for Solus.
I'd also be happy for any advice on the size of the swap partition. I have 8 GB of RAM, and I hibernate the PC nearly every day.
