Another newbie here... I decided that -- after 35 yrs w/apple/mac -- I'd convert my 2015 retina iMac. Exploring Linux has been fun & I've tried several distros to find a good fit. After demo-ing Solus gnome & budgie (on a pc I use for my biz) decided to load it on my iMac. No success. I format the usb drives 16/32gb on my iMac (using both Fat formats) and write w/ Balena Etcher. They format & load, but will NOT complete a final install. Instead, I'm asked for a grub pw, but the bottom of the (otherwise black) screen shows several strips of noise. Ubuntu works. Manjaro works. Fedora works (etc)... But I liked Solus (on my Dell) so much, I really thought it would be the perfect fit on my iMac. FYI: I'm conversant w/linux, but still learning the ropes via terminal etc. Now I'm ready to settle with a Linux OS as my home sys. Would really like to demo Solus on my iMac, fut… I confess, I believe I’m over my head re: the ropes of grub passwords etc. Just want a distro that works. Regards...
