Deja Dup w/Google Drive

So I'm having trouble setting up Deja Dup to backup to my Google drive. I think the problem is I have no idea what I'm doing trying to set up PyDrive. Is there a good tutorial out there for the absolute beginner? I've found some, but they assume you understand exactly what $PATH and json files you need to edit/create already.

I use deja dup. I've never backed up my google drive. if I were I'd say if you could get your google drive to show up in nautilus then you are home free (because you'd have a perfect 'sources' address/path to cut'n''paste into deja.
How do you get google drive to show in Nautilus?" Don't know to be honest. Mount it somehow? (I've never attempted it).

I'm trying to go the PyDrive route. No issue setting up the API, but where/how to create the file for
from pydrive.auth import GoogleAuth

Is proving quite difficult for me as a noob.

If you could mount google drive, then add its nautilus location (address) to the '+' button on bottom picture, would you be back in business?

It's possible I am misinformed. This 1-year old information says "Sadly, no official Google Drive client for Linux exists." But the article (https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/07/backup-files-to-google-drive-on-ubuntu) goes on to say a google development tool called "Google Drive API" is the bridge that would make a backup happen for linux.
"We’ve shown you how to access Google Drive on Ubuntu through Nautilus before, a process which mounts your Google Drive as a remote file system in the file manager. This is a great solution for browsing and opening files you have already backed up, but it’s not so great for backing up files you haven’t (you have to manually copy each file and folder over by hand, connection is sometimes slow for larger files, etc).So you may want to schedule backups to Google Drive using Deja Dup instead."
--then they go on to illuminate the process I was guessing at (mounting and backing it up).

brent Yeah, I was working off this tutorial here, but alas I have no experience with coding and I'm just now learning the basics for a string in Python. I was able to pip install PyDrive but that's where I'm stuck. I am hopeful someone far more knowledgeable than me will point out how easy it is.

If you are sure you need to do it this way, then I hope the python people here chime in and help you. You're getting there. Wish I knew python.

My notes from a commit dating back to April of 2019:

Google Drive support has been removed. This is the result of deja-dup requiring pydrive, which uses a deprecated (by the upstream developers) OAuth2 python library. PyDrive has not seen a release in several years and is not under active development. It is encouraged to reach out to the Deja-Dup developers for alternative solutions for Drive support / integration in their application.

Apparently there is a fork of pydrive that is more actively maintained, so that may be an option if somebody wants Drive support in Deja Dup and wants to provide a patch for this fork's inclusion and test it against deja-dup.

So I haven't looked into PyDrive2 yet, but I was able to finally get PyDrive to sync up with my Google Drive API and set DejaDup to automatic backups.
I was also able to show my Google Drive as a mounted location in Nautilus, which is extremely helpful!

Edit - Now have installed and gotten PyDrive2 functioning. Also, I think my problems may have came down to a simple chmod a+x on my pydrive-upload code.
