wd_black I'm not sure what you mean by "fully". Generally, external harddrives are not an issue on Linux. Some extended features like "one-touch backup" may not be supported if they rely on software utilities that require Windows or Mac.

I've run solus off external platters, installed solus to platters, and have stored things on external platters---all via usb 2.0 and 3.0.
If your external drive is formatted you are good to go---I've never had a problem. Not with cords, not with drive being read, etc.

Except I don't know what you mean by 'fully' either.

If your talking about the wd passort software wise i would say no I think you have to use them with there software not 100% sure on that though.

Is there any way that wine would run WD Unlocker?
