Got the laptop in the title which uses the Killer AX1650.

Unfortunately, it is not working out-of-the-box with the latest ISO. Searching for AX1650 across this forum turned up this post : https://discuss.getsol.us/d/3231-dell-xps-7590

where @JoshStrobl says:

The wifi card in question is just a rebranded Intel AX200 wifi card. It should work in the 5.x kernels we have (Solus 4 released with 4.20).

This doesn't seem to be the case for me. The kernel of the ISO I'm running is 5.4.12-144 yet when I boot the ISO, my wireless card is not detected. I'm stuck and not sure where to go from here, I don't want to install to disk without knowing my wifi card will work.

ETA: Looks like there might've been a regression in the kernel w/ this wifi card between 5.3 and 5.5(.10?), unfortunate.

Install make update Solus is now on 5.6.4.-152

Sorry, I can't grok what you're saying here.

Anyways, I worked around this by doing the following:

  • install ISO to disk w/o wifi set up.
  • use the USB-C to USB-A + USB-ethernet adapter to get internet
  • update solus to latest packages/kernel (5.6.something)
  • restart

doing that installs the latest kernel and wifi is working as expected.

Just wanted to update again in case anyone gets here via search -- Electron apps were not working for me out of the box either, weird issues like the windows would load or register any clicks. What solved it for me was finding this Reddit thread[0] and doing the same thing, removing xorg-driver-video-intel. After doing that and rebooting, the apps load and work as expected. I wonder if this could be related to the weird glitching I was seeing in the Plasma spin since afaik Electron apps use Qt.
