I have a third party xbox 360 controller. I tried to configure the controls in Dolphin. The computer detects the controller but it does not input anything. I cannot set any button mapings.
Please help
Xbox 360 Controller not working
Does it work in other games or is it just Dolphin failing?
Rajdeep_Singha Works perfectly fine for me. Just installed Dolphin, opened the "Controllers" menue, clicked on the "Configure" button next to a controller, and then configured the controls.
In my case I had to select the device evdev/0/Microsoft X-Box 360
from the drop-down menu.
JohannPopper I'm deleting this comment since it has nothing valuable to add to the conversation. This user is looking for help with the hardware they own, not a lecture on what you use.
Could the problem be that your controller is a "third party" one ? (I understand by that that it is not the "official" microsoft one).
Did you tried to use xboxdrv ? I use this when my controller (It's a different one, a PS3 "official") isn't recognize by some games/applications.
Another way to use your gamepad would be with joytostick, but it's a bit "dirty"
Hope it can help !

I haven't tried it in other games yet

I have installed xboxdrv. But it's still not working.
Apparently not official
Rajdeep_Singha a third party xbox 360 controller
I missed that piece of information when I read your post the first time. I can only confirm that it works with a Microsoft Xbox 360 controller.
DataDrake I helpfully explained to him the current state of development for gamepad hardware support on Linux, specifically in Plasma Settings, which is eminently useful information for him to consider given his question. There is no solution to what he's asking for, and you should know that as a developer.
JohannPopper No. What you did was go on a rant about the state of things where you did nothing but complain. Then you told them what you bought to get around the problem. Neither of those things helps them get their controller working. Something that one can reasonably expect to work given that other Xbox controllers are known to work on Solus.
JohannPopper you should know that as a developer.
Where the hell do you get off talking to me in a condescending tone like that? You're wasting people's time getting help. I don't actually know for 100% certain that this is an impossible situation, neither do you. So how about you give the people who are optimistically seeking a solution to this problem, a chance to find one, instead of burying them in your pessimism.

Your answer doesn't explain to me what you've done (or not).
Did you do sudo xboxdrv
? Are your gamepad inputs recognized ? (They appear in the terminal) (I use sudo because if not it won't work in my case)
For my gamepad (ps3) I have to do xboxdrv -d
in order for it to be recognized and it has to be plugged via USB (no bluetooth), did you try that ?
And if it can be of any help (I did not try it), here you can find a link to the archlinux wiki section about gamepad, there's a specific "Using generic/clone controllers" section.
And here you can find help in order to mimic xbox 360 gamepads with xboxdrv
sighs
JohannPopper You're done with this thread. I'm deleting this message because it's again, not actually helping the conversation and making me fill this thread with more unrelated discussion. If you continue down this path, I have no problem banning you.

No, it's a third party xbox controller

I installed xboxdrv from the software center. The gamepad is recognized but the inputs are not recognized by dolphin.
Thanks a lot for the response. It was helpful.
