for the past couple of days ive been installing solus repeatedly for various reasons, and across all my installations something's bizarre going on
my computer's connected to my router with a cable and everything but for some reason it behaves oddly in solus. for example i cant reach any website that isn't youtube or google because the connection keeps timing out (except for these two), and apps like steam downright refuse to connect to the internet. however when i disconnect and use my wifi card on the same router everything's working fine
am i missing any drivers? i'd prefer to mainly use a wired connection, so any help would be nice

I doubt it's an issue with drivers. A driver doesn't know what website you are going to etc.

Justin then what could be the issue? windows doesn't have this problem

Time for some network diagnostics then. Can you ping 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 when this happens? If you can't ping those can you ping your router (default gateway) address?

Girtablulu can't be the cable, i tested my connection on windows on the same pc and it was the same as always, no issues
@Justin i'm afraid i have no clue what pinging is lmao, sorry
      how do i do that?

ping 1.1.1.1 This tests the round trip travel time of packets.

Is Your wired connection staying connected or is it disconnecting after a short time. I Had the disconnect issue drove me crazy finally replaced the network card and main cable has been fine Since I had a desktop tho. (Just for connection dropping issue tho.) Windows was first to have issues then linux went..lol It was causing gateway issues for me. Oh those cheap china cables are junk!!! Shut pc off,Unplug router then let set for a minute plug back in,Wait for router to totally boot up, then turn pc back on let it totally boot up then try your connection. Then go in and check see if its getting its gateway ip and correct ip (in the same subnet)that is if you got it set to auto to get the info from router. Your connection can stay connected but gateway can drop or your ip can be messed up and you lose internet connection. Wireless Uses same input to router but two different circuits out 1 for wireless and 1 for wired so wireless working doesnt mean wired will .

turns out it just kind of. started to work properly again. it's pretty bizarre, and i dont understand it, but thank you everyone for taking time to respond anyway
