I cant run teams app in solus.I have downloaded the teams.deb and extracted and then ran the teams scrip file in the bin folder and nothing happend.I also tried (sudo snap install teams-for-linux) after installation the app is not responding.

I have retried to install teams-for-linux using (sudo snap install teams-for-linux).but got struck at

SBT Just installed and it is working fine. You have to try it again.

These are the notes I left myself when I last installed Teams. I used the official release (deb), not the unofficial Snap. But I'm not sure how much they really differ.

Download teams_XXX_amd64.deb

ar vx teams_XXX_amd64.deb

tar xJvf data.tar.xz

sudo mkdir /opt/teams

sudo cp -r ./usr/* /opt/teams

sudo ln -s /opt/teams/bin/teams /usr/bin

sudo ln -s /opt/teams/share/applications/teams.desktop /usr/share/applications

This should make Teams visible in the applications menu as well as your system PATH.

Please don't try to install .deb files on anything other than Debian based distros, for you own sake. Microsoft Teams is available as a Flatpak. Snaps have been pretty unusable in my experience.

Edit: just tested the Flatpak on Solus Budgie myself and it works all fine.

palto42 I don't see why that would be an issue, a Solus package would also be unofficial.

bvdlingen , abdulocracy Agree that it's not an issue, just wanted to make people aware that there is no other official version than the deb and rpm packages.
The flatpack is also based on the official deb package as you can see in com.microsoft.Teams.json.

I would also recommend the Flatpak package . I am using it for about a year without any issues. It's actively maintained and updating is obviously easier compared to a .deb file:

flatpak install flathub com.microsoft.Teams

Another option would be the snap package from Microsoft, I experienced issues with it though:

sudo snap install teams

Looking into the package, it seems that the Linux desktop app might be based on the chrome browser, but on the feature comparison page there are differences between web app and Linux desktop.
Interestingly some features are available with the web app and not Linux desktop and vice versa. Obviously the Linux desktop app is not at par with the Windows version.
