Recently switched to solus 4 from macos high sierra on my macbook air, it takes around 30 seconds to the login screen.
is there a way i can make this faster ?

Nope... you should identify your hardware and search the web for solutions.
Fist thing is to check if you can find your hardware with lspci
or lsusb
.
addy3494 Was the 30 seconds spent waiting on the Mac boot screen (before Solus bootloader)? You can get rid of the delay with the "bless" command -- as shown here:
Create a USB boot stick with a OSX/MACOS install DVD and boot off it ....
The interesting thing is with a Ubuntu (18.10) install this manual step is not necessary. Maybe someone with more partition/EFI know how can explain?
