The gnome wayland session is available on solus, any plans for the plasma one? (I realize you can enable it with a session file... but why bother deleting the file in packaging? To prevent bug reports?)

Wayland has at the moment no priority in Solus and is for me as Plasma Maintainer not really in Focus, any working Wayland session will be personally a coincidence, but does not mean that I will stop any other user of trying out wayland and if needed to send a patch to phab to fix an issue with wayland.

In a few places I saw"you can enable it using a session file", but how? I tried putting plasmawayland.desktop in /usr/share/wayland-sessions/ (which is what ARCH packageplasma-wayland-session does), it gives me another option in SDDM but I still log in to X.Org.
Am I doing something wrong or maybe it thinks my hardware is too old and it falls back?

Girtablulu I understand that, but do you know how can I test plasma? I need it for specific graphics tablet functionality. I read in a few places that all I need is a session file (also Sunnyflunk said that), but where can I get it?
I tried using plasmasession.desktop file from plasma-workspace-5.17.3.tar.xz, but it still boots to X.Org. Its contents:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Desktop Sessions
X-KDE-ServiceTypes=Plasma/Runner
Type=Service
Icon=system-shutdown
X-KDE-Library=krunner_sessions
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Author=Plasma Team
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Email=plasma-devel@kde.org
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Name=desktopsessions
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Version=1.0
X-KDE-PluginInfo-License=LGPL
X-KDE-PluginInfo-EnabledByDefault=true
X-Plasma-AdvertiseSingleRunnerQueryMode=true

Did anybody here managed to do it?

I think clivejo did it once but wayland brakes all the time and I would need to patch it all the time

    Girtablulu Hi, I am new to Linux, so it might be out of place to ask. But it seems the KDE we got in Solus is missing many Kname applications. I did install several of them using the fedora live kde as reference, since usually they release it as untouched as possible, as far as I understand it.

    I also understand that you don't want to have 2 apps that do the same thing in Solus. But would it be possible do make a package like desktop.kde.apps or something to install all the Kname applications that desktop.kde.core or desktop.kde is missing? Also the desktop.kde seem to have many bugs in icons and such, I needed to go with desktop.kde.core to fix it

    Thanks for any help!

    Edit: Also, good job so far on this distro. I am enjoying it a lot.

      Soultrigger stop going off topic, create own threads for this... to answer this I know but you can always request stuff, I'm not adding software for just having it, there should be at least a small demand. Reg the component thing I had the same idea just didn't find the time to talk with core about it.
      KDE.desktop.core is to have the basic function for a system, we generally suggest never install a DE via only components always go with the iso

      It's getting there...way way better than it was last year. The more people running and reporting issues the faster it will go.
