  • Scanner with the Easiest Solos Config? (before I spend money)

Are you sure it's a CANON scanner you need help for?
I don't think there are CANON scanners with the model no. V39 or V19. But there are definitely EPSON models of those numbers!
I myself have an EPSON WorkForce WF-7710, a beast on the desk - prints, scans, faxes, copies, all up to A3.
But tricky under linux!
I needed to install the following packages (from the SOLUS Software Center) to get it working:

  • epson-inkjet-printer-escpr
  • utsushi

Well, I got my printer and scanner to work, for scanning matters I use Simple Scan, and it finds my EPSON model. The scans themselves seem to be rather pale, the contrast settings don't really change anything. That's my impression at least.

    It is an EPSON, correctamundo. V39. Will purchase at your reccomendation in the morning but I need more info.
    I have a Brother HL-something printer. That works fine in Solus. the devs made me a driver pack not long ago.

    The fine Epson product I want is a Scanner, standalone.
    You have an all-in-one with scanner (I should've thought of that a long time ago!)

    I saw those packages.in the software center. For just a scanner I don't think I need the first one.
    According to solus dev link above, sushi should handle the V39. But I've not seen that confirmed in that maniphest thread.

    I'd have to imagine if sushi was not all I needed, then some imscan, or sane package would work.

      brent Printers and scanners on Linux are not great. We should just get rid of them and move to the next era of digital work. It's been far too long.

          Justin the next era would be the eradication of hardcopy and toners, re-creation/reimagination of all analog forms to digital, in a completely digital environment, stored in the big fluffy, right?

              Thaeris true that. when the power goes off I know what to do and don't bat an eye

                MODS: I bought the bloody thing, mistakenly, so this thread CLOSED in that my money is spent.

                Thaeris If the power is out your desktop PC won't work and your laptop won't last long. 😀
