Dropbox giving me an error when I try to install it

Somewhat a newbie here and definitely new to Solus. Installed Solus GNOME 4.1 from a fresh download. Pretty sure its Gnome 3.34.

When I install Dropbox from the repo, as I have on other distros, the Dropbox folder never shows up.

I first installed from the Software Center, no joy. It seemed to install fine but no folder. I uninstalled and went to the command line to see if I could get some output. Results are below:

`Looked all good. Then I installed nautilus-gnome:

Again, seems OK to me. But no Dropbox folder. So I ran ls, output below:

bobdundon@stilgar ~ $ ls
Desktop Downloads Music Public Videos
Documents 'dropbox error' Pictures Templates

And there is the error but I'm lost as I have no idea why I'm getting this error. Normally, after Dropbox downloads and installs it fires up Firefox to have me login to my Dropbox account. That has happened on other distros I've tried. That never happened when I installed Dropbox on Solus.

Anyone have a suggestion about what I did wrong in trying to get Dropbox installed. Seems straight forward, but something is barfing.

Well, did you update the system after the installation?

Staudey Yes sir I did. Took multiple tries due to timeouts, but Solus was fully up-to-date before I tried to install Dropbox.

My apologies for not mentioning that, oversight on my part.

Okay, it just sounded to me like you didn't 😅
Did you ever launch Dropbox from the menu after installing it?
If not, do that. It should complete the rest of the installation.

In case that didn't work try running dropbox update from the terminal, this should complete the install. After that you can run dropbox from the menu and it shouldn't open the login/connect page in your browser. (at least that's how it was for me when I tried it just now).

Staudey Oh for cryin out loud, I'm a complete idiot!

Here I am looking for the file folder and it never occurred to me to launch the app as you suggested. Of course, when I did that the pop up showed up and now the Dropbox daemon is downloading as I type this.

Damn, was it that easy?? I have a similar problem as rsdundon. I rarely pay attention to the option to run the program. Every time I sincerely wonder why the downloaded program doesn't start from the shortcut on the desktop. It's terrible to admit how many applications I deleted just because I didn't complete the download and complained about the possible file corruption. No, the files aren't corrupted, I'm just stupid 🙂 It's good that I didn't let the same thing happen to Dropbox. It's a rare occasion where I decide to go now and figure out what I really need to get the job done.
