Moving my server to Solus!

Hello everyone! I am happy to say that I'm changing my servers hardware from a raspberry pi to a thinkpad! This is so I can host my Minecraft server and my website all on one piece of hardware. Anyways, now that I'm able to choose a lot more distros, I decided to go with a customized Solus OS! It will be up within a few hours, when it is up I'll update this post or make a new one with my domain and Minecraft server domain! 🙂

Using Solus for a server is not recommended. I'd suggest installing something like Fedora Server or Ubuntu Server instead.

We are solely focused on modern home computing devices, e.g. laptops and desktops. Our release cadence is far less conservative than operating systems which have a curated server image and more conservative release cycles. Any server-like software such as MariaDB and nginx in our repositories is solely for development purposes.

Debian Stable is an excellent choice for a server setup. I know a guy (VastOne) from my time on the CrunchBang forums who swore that Debian Unstable was fine for use as a server as long as the server admin knew what they were doing. I personally wouldn't use Debian Unstable for server purposes.
