kyrios If its Linux then its Plasma.. Budgie is very good though, but nowhere near as customizable and as eye pleasing as Plasma imo!

Actually Budgie, but would like to see a Deepin UI desktop, which I overall rate excellent.

Kepos Deepin Desktop is available from 3rd party source for Solus but not supported by the Solus team.

Budgie. Before Solus I was long time LXDE user, so I thought Mate would be the best for me, but after trying Budgie it was clear that I was wrong. 😉

Depends on the application. I use MATE for my media server, because there's never a screen tear or jumpiness to moving objects or people. Budgie is on the other computers here, though.

Maybe the Budgie team could find out what makes the MATE desktop so smooth for videos, and merge them into the all-time best DE?

WetGeek I use Budgie and have no problems with screen tearing, skipped frames or freezing of video. One of my laptops has... 2GB of RAM. I can plug it in to my TV and use streaming services in 720p. That wasn't the case with many so called light weight distros.

I guess I should have mentioned that MATE on my media server is straight-out-of-the-box. No searching for solutions, no installing extra drivers, no creating/modifying .cfg files. It just works perfectly as-is. And that's with a 4K Ultra HD TV.

I think it's great that we can all have our own favorites, for whatever purposes we use them. I just happen to have two favorites.
