New to Setting up Wacom Pen Display

Hello, awesome Solus users!

Let me just first say that I adore how streamlined the gaming experience on Linux has become -- Steam & Lutris in my heart! Haven't gotten around to making a post just to say that, but it needs telling. Not that I think you don't know 😉

To the matter at hand. I have through a bargain obtained a Wacom Cintiq 21UX, and I have tried to set it up in Solus Budgie some times now, and Wacom Project in all honor, but I must have misunderstood things somewhere as I ever only partly got things to work: the display won't register the pen, only have I ever gotten the displaybuttons to work.

Last time I sat down with this I must have done something wrong, because I lost my keyboard & mouse functionalities... reboots didn't help. Decided to just recover files then reinstall, now using Solus Plasma (don't know if this is relevant, but I'll just throw that in.)

A bit too afraid I'll end up with another bad result again, so I took to the forums ^^

No idea how to do human interaction, so I'll admit it's not without being a bit fearful I'm posting. Will you bite?

nthxz I search engined this thing. Loveliest tablet---or at least the biggest---I've ever seen. It tmade me feel creative just looking at the pictures.

Spoiler: I have no idea how to answer your question. But maybe help.

The 1st entry and the 5th entry are pre-installed which makes me wonder why you aren't recognized.
Just from visiting I here I posit 2 theories:
1) The 2nd listing is the WACOM GUI. Maybe try that?
2) I've seen this tablet recognition thing around here recently...search function might reveal more.

brent The Solus software centre is amazing and the packages detect everything. That stuff is great, though I've just been reluctant to reply because I haven't gotten my pencil to work on the tablet. I must have some hardware issue, like the pencil being wrong. Even though I ordered one that said it was compatible. Makes me worried about the bargain really being a bargain now...

I was having a similar problem when I was using LTS kernel and then I switched to Current one to get the problem solved.

heiwiper I must confess that I had my hopes low as of my previous reply, not looking to this post until I could imagine anything - if at all - would have dropped in to tell me something beside "get a new pen". Never did I expect a solution to drop in the very same day!

It is with this in mind I'd like to apologize for my late reply and hope it sits right.

Now then, changing/upgrading the kernel is something I'm not at all familiar w/. The Best start would be to know how you went about it, if I may bother w/ inquiring so.

nthxz I apologize for the late reply, upgrading the kernel is done automatically when updating your packages from the Sofware Center, switching the kernel require installing it first from The Software Center, there is "linux-current" (which I think is the default one) and "linux-lts"

When you have both of them installed you will have to choose one when booting your PC, for me I didn't get my tablet to work on linux-lts just like you mentioned and then everything was fine when I switched to linux-current, so I supposed it was a hardware incompatibility problem but I can't tell if it's the same for you.
